Hey Moms and Dads,

Pause and think for a while. Does your morning start with the chirping of lovely and colourful birds? Do you meet a friendly dog each day when you go to office? Do you have pets at home? Or in the neighbourhood? Do your kids love playing with a stray cat or dog too? Surely, they must be excited to have birds coming to their windows!

Animals and birds make our lives more lovely and lively. Most of us have a bird feeder at home, or cats and dogs we play with in our neighbourhood, but are we raising animal friendly kids?

Our little ones learn from what we do and what they see us doing. Are we setting a good enough example?

Let us see the little acts that we can do in day-to-day life that our kids will see and copy in their lives and thus make a beautiful world where we live happily with all the beautiful birds and animals:

Keep a bird feeder at home with food and fresh water – encourage growing kids to clean and refill it regularly

1. If you have any pets at home – ask your kids to help them bathe and feed them on time
2. Go on jungle safaris or animal parks with your kids (you can give zoos a skip, better not to teach them that animals should be caged)
3. Visit more and more national parks and bird sanctuaries and talk to your kids about all they see and their importance in the environment
4. Read books to them about being animal friendly
5. Role-play about animal kingdom
6. Take them to cat and dog cafes or other such places where the animals or birds are allowed to live freely and happily and are cared for
7. If you cannot have a pet at home, ensure visits to families that have them. This will help kids develop love and empathy for all living beings
8. Watch animal-friendly movies with kids
9. Talk to your kids about protecting environment

This world already has a lot of cruelty in all forms, let us all together raise an animal friendly generation and a cruelty free world where our kids would be the game changers.
